Rod Connelly
President and founder of the company, Rod Connelly has been active in residential, commercial, and retail developments in both the Australian and United States markets over the past 35 years.
After graduating from the University of Adelaide in South Australia in 1972, he was appointed project manager with Lend Lease Corporation, one of the largest construction and development companies in the world.
In 1978, Mr. Connelly was selected to oversee operations for Lend Lease in Florida. In 1983, Rod was offered the management role of the Lend Lease Office in Singapore, which he gracefully declined, having made the decision to venture into property development. Utilizing the knowledge acquired during his Lend Lease tenure, Rod formed the company, which today goes under the Civix brand, and pursued multiple opportunities in the growth areas of West Coast Florida.
Since those early days, Civix has grown into a widely recognized name in the industry. Mr. Connelly increased the business based on the foundation of aligning common interests of all stakeholders irrespective of the project type or pursuit. To quote his mentor, Dick Dusseldorp, founder of Lend Lease "There are two things in life. You can be out for the maximum amount of profit you can possibly squeeze from your effort or you can aim at a reasonable profit and have a feeling that you leave something behind." Rod adds, "with great satisfaction if your efforts provide sustained employment for people in the community in which you do business."
Terry Dorman
Executive Vice President, Terry Dorman has been involved in real estate acquisitions and development for over the past 35 years. Mr. Dorman graduated from the University of Florida in 1967.
He began his real estate career as a corporate pilot for a Florida based Development Company where he soon became partner and director of the acquisitions division.
Mr. Dorman joined Civix in 1992 and has represented the company primarily in land acquisition since that date. Mr. Dorman's knowledge of the "Florida Landscape" has given the company a definitive advantage in its property acquisition pursuits.
David Ballew
With over 20 years of senior level experience, Mr. Ballew has a track record of success in development, acquisitions, dispositions, finance and real estate operations. He has developed over 2 million square feet of retail and office product nationally for both private and public companies as well as specific retailers.
In 1986, Mr. Ballew formed his own development company and law firm. He developed over 500,000 square feet of retail and office product and invested over $50 million in shopping centers and office product throughout Florida and the southeast for a private client.
In 1994, Mr. Ballew joined Paragon Group/Insignia ESG in Tampa, Florida as Vice President of Acquisitions and retail where he oversaw operations, dispositions, redevelopment and acquisitions for a retail portfolio of 54 shopping centers and malls totaling 11 million square feet. Most recently, Mr. Ballew was Senior Vice President of Commercial Net Lease Realty where he introduced a multi-tenant retail development program and designed and managed a finance program to joint venture retail developments on a national basis.
Mr. Ballew is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School and Bowdoin College. He is a licensed Attorney and a licensed Real Estate Broker in four states.
